Performs routine manual housekeeping work cleaning areas within any of the Sherman Hospital facilities.

JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Empties trash
  • Cleans, mops, scrubs, sweeps or vacuums floors, stairways, and halls
  • Cleans, washes, dusts, or polishes hardware, brass, furniture, mirrors, bedside lighting fixtures, vents, radiators, and exteriors of cabinets and equipment
  • Dust mops, waxes and buffs wood and terrazzo floors and shampoos carpets
  • Cleans patient rooms and/or offices thoroughly by mopping floors, washing furniture, scrubbing plastic cushions, frames and cleaning and washing bathroom fixtures and walls
  • Cleans drinking fountains, ice-making machines and sand urns; cleans venetian blinds with damp cloth or vacuum
  • Reports repairs needed to supervisors including broken or cracked window panes, leaky faucets, toilets, loose tiles, broken venetian blinds and damaged furniture
  • Follows all universal precautions, blood borne pathogen procedures and uses personal protective equipment as needed while cleaning patient care areas
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities as required to improve the environment for patients, staff and visitors
  • Performs related duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must be able to operate a PDA

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma preferred

  • Combination of experience and education to perform job skills

    SPECIAL JOB CHARICTERISTICS:

    • Able to lift up to 35 pounds

    Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
