The General Surgical Unit, located on 3 South, is a 33-bed adult unit which cares for patients with a variety of general surgical and general medical conditions. Patients undergoing surgical procedures involving the GU, GI, Gynecological, ENT, and Vascular systems are treated on this unit. The most common surgical procedures encountered on our unit include hysterectomy, cholecystectomy, bowel resection, breast surgery, and prostate procedures. A multidisciplinary approach to patient care ensures that the needs of the patients and their families are met. The unit works closely with the Case Manager and all other disciplines in the hospital Duties: Provides professional care and service within assigned area in accordance with established standards, institutional policy and procedures, professional judgment, and, as appropriate for assignment, nursing care plan, and physician's treatment plan. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages and culture of the patients/clients served. Requirements Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Current RN license to practice in the State of Illinois or eligible. |
