Manager of Telemetry has the responsibility, authority and accountability to manage the department on a twenty-four basis.  Functions include departmental organization, planning, supervising to ensure the delivery of safe effective patient care as well as budgeting, public relations, staff development and human resource management and materials management.  Also functions as a liaison to departments within the patient care center. Nursing care is delivered according to established standards and practices and performances in accordance with established policies and procedures of Sherman Health and the State of Illinois.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:

                 

Promotes ongoing performance improvement for the department of nursing and assigned teams

  • Promotes quality patient care through participation in organizational committees and planning teams and by facilitating a consistent nursing practice philosophy for patients across continuums
  • Promotes shared decision making processes to ensure autonomy and professional accountability
  • Evaluates new developments in research, education, and evidence based practice to ensure optimal patient care
  • Oversees actions to meet JCAHO standards and other regulatory agency requirements for nursing and assigned teams
  • Assures effective utilization of patient care and staffing plans to insure optimal care and cost effectiveness

Responsible for the budget and planning processes

  • Monitors and analyzes expenditures and revenues for areas of improvement and makes recommendations for changes
  • Assists with collecting and utilizing historical, comparative and benchmark data to help support decision-making and recommendations
  • Supports the effective use of resources, such as cost accounting, productivity analysis and budgetary variances

Provides coaching and leadership to direct reports

  • Assists leaders in developing and meeting department specific goals and targets
  • Monitors staff compliance with attendance, annual competencies and employment requirements
  • Interviews, coaches, evaluates, transfers, disciplines and terminates personnel according to Sherman Health Human Resource policies
  • Performs performance evaluations and facilitates peer evaluation on all department staff according to hospital policy
  • Responsible for overall department moral and culture

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of three years recent experience in a related area
  • Previous experience in management preferred
  • Bachelor degree required or in process

Certifications

  • Current RN license in the State of Illinois
  • Maintains current CPR
