Sterile Processing Tech

Provides hospital and affiliated facilities with processed material and equipment ensuring a quality product at an effective cost for patient care by executing established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follows established department policies, procedures, and manufactures instructions to ensure decontamination completion.
  • Sets up decontamination equipment area, checks all cart washer, and tunnel washer filters to ensure clean and free from debris. Checks all equipment for proper operation, and ensures continuous work flow throughout shift.
  • Demonstrates independent function in ensuring that the equipment distributed is in appropriate working order for utilization in direct patient care. 
  • Requisitions supplies from Central Stores filling out paperwork according to procedure and charges the supplies to the cost center of the user department.
  • Assembles, and ensure proper placing of test packs for the purpose of monitoring the function of the three sterilizers in SPC, one in OBGYN, nine in the O.R. and the two in ASC on a daily basis.
  • Assembles instrument sets ensuring that the correct number and type of instrument is present following established lists, and placing the instruments appropriately to ensure sterilization and ease of use by the user.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent

1 year of sterile processing experience required

 Additional Information

Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
